DBM Should be used with a voice pack

Postby MysticalOS » Sun Apr 16, 2017 11:27 pm

Why you should use voice pack and not default sounds:
Encounters have gotten more complex with many abilities and hearing same sounds for multiple warnings causes those sounds to become less effective and get tuned out by user.

In fact, it's lead to many users no longer even paying attention to it and instead customizing all their boss warnings with things like weak auras. What people don't realize is many hours are put into planning and recording custom voice pack warnings that go into dbm that effective eliminate the sound issues all together with a far more pleasant experience. Generic special warning sounds replaced with softer and clearer spoken alerts. Alerts that often and quite literally spell out what warning is for and even what to do for it sometimes. Instead of hearing a pvp flag sound you hear "run over the flowers" in whatever voice pack you choose (yes even multiple to choose from. Even localized ones like korean to speak these things in your preferred language in some cases). Or funny ones such as having Arnold Schwarzenegger telling you what to do.

So you might ask, if it's intended for users to use voice packs, why are they not included in base mod. Two main reasons.
  • 1. Size. It's a lot of media files, and DBM (especially users using alpha versions) can update DBM daily. Making you redownload a package that includes hundreds of media files over and over again is not ideal. Media files for voice packs being a separate optional download lets you only redownload all that media when there is actually a reason to.
  • 2. The work that goes into recording that media is done via multiple 3rd parties. To help support their work, they are ones that should be getting the curse points for said download anyways, not me. You find voice pack (or packs might as well try a few) you like, and download from them.

Where to download:
You can get a pretty big list of voice packs right here (https://www.deadlybossmods.com/downloads.php) as well as finding even more by just doing a search on curse such as https://wow.curseforge.com/search?search=dbm+voice . Just note that some of the no longer maintained/out of date ones may be incomplete. Fortunately even incomplete ones are very usuable. The way dbm is coded, it's smart enough to know that if voice files are missing, to default to original special warning sounds. meaning for example if warning 1 has a voice file but warning 2 does not. Warning 1 plays using voice media and warning 2 will fall back to [...]

DBM 7.2.4 Released

Postby MysticalOS » Thu Apr 06, 2017 8:11 pm

New Features:

Core
  • Classic Raids now support TimeWalking Stats
  • Any Mythic+ dungeon message should now include keystone level, including status whispers when people message you.

Broken Isles
  • Updated Malificus timers

Bug Fixes:

Core:
  • Fixed lua error in new guild version check code. This error is mostly cosmetic and doesn't hurt anything for users of new 7.2.3 version though but they probably will see this error when 7.2.4 is released.
  • Fixed a bug that could prevent "OnCombatStart" functions from running on bosses that are engaged when not at full health (such as world bosses)
  • Fixed a bug in the way status whispers are filtered in scenarios so that DBM does reply in artifact challenge scenarios like intended.
  • Remove countdown text feature from all timers and countdowns except pull, since that’s only pace it works since WoW 7.x broke it (only place that doesn’t use scheduling)

Nighthold:
  • Fixed timer for 2nd singularity of mythic elisande (or first depending how you look at the one cast on jump from nightwell) for being 1-2 seconds slow sometimes.
  • Fix for second add timer (FelLord Kuraz) not showing for some on mythic Guldan.
  • Fixed a bug where mythic guldan mod could prematurely end combat if guldan died 10 more seconds before final phase demon became active

Trial of Valor
  • Helya tentacle cast timers on mythic should work better when two tentacles on same side are casting.
  • Fixed bug where infoframe would stay open if you ignore adds and push phase 2 on mythic Odyn.

5 man Dungeons:
  • Fixed bug where CoS Trash mod would try to send chat messages to wrong party chat when in a LFG group or solo.
  • Fixed a bug where Helya (dungeon) barrage warning fired for cast success instead of cast start

DBM 7.2.3 Released

Postby MysticalOS » Sun Apr 02, 2017 3:35 am

New Features

Core:
  • DBM version check will now work across build on login, and not just joining raids. This way if there is an update available you can find out about it sooner than right as you're showing up for raid.

Nighthold:
  • LFR elisande finally has timers. While they don't really matter in LFR, eventually they might matter down road in an underman/solo scenario
  • Added more countdown options for Star Auger

World Events:
  • Added support for the 3 player demonic invasion scenarios. Bombardment should be supported in all 4. Azsuna and Val'Sharah have additional warnings

Bug Fixes

Core:
  • Fixed a bug where countdown sounds would not honor selections if more than 1 was set to same voice. Now this should work correctly. It was a really hard bug to track down.
  • Fixed a bug that prevented voice pack filter from working on voices/warnings with custom locals (such as tichondrius incoming adds warning). Now if a voice pack is installed the generic special warning sounds for such an alert should be suppressed as intended when voice sound file plays.

Nighthold:
  • Removed combat message from mythic guldan I forgot to remove months ago.
  • Fixed a bug where fast elemental timers on mythic elisande would start using wrong elemental counter (ironically I don't think this ever actually caused an issue, since slow ones always spawn first so the counter would be same)
  • Fixed a bug where first phase 2 orb timer/countdown didn't start on normal elisande
  • Fixed a lua error on Gul'dan mythic.

Changes

Core:
  • Updated core to block DBM-ProvingGrounds from loading as it's now depricated by DBM-Challenges. This is done to prevent load conflicts from both existing at same time. In addition, if challenges isn't installed it'll now alert that it's available when entering artifact challenges at mage tower.

DBM 7.2.2 Released

Postby MysticalOS » Wed Mar 29, 2017 4:05 am

New Features:

Nighthold:
  • Star Auger now has a new option (on by default) to spam chat bubbles for Grand Conjunction. Also, when this option is enabled, it filters all chat bubbles for other mechanics such as ejection until conjunction has ended.

5 man Dungeons
  • Added several trash warnings to Cathedral of Eternal Night
  • Updated timers and warnings for all bosses in Cathedral of Eternal Night. Updates are pretty significant and although this is a one liner in change log, every boss has new warnings, improved existing warnings, and updated timers across the dungeon.

Bug Fixes

Nighthold:
  • Fixed a bug where infoframe would not track carrion plague on Tichondrius
  • Fixed a bug where 3rd flames timer on Guldan (of each set) on heroic/mythic could still be wrong depending on whether or not secondary trigger was used
  • Fixed a bug where timer for second adds set in 3rd phase on tichondrius was a few seconds slow.

Changes:

Core:
  • Rhonin has been given a stern talking to and will no longer speak when MovieFrame is active. He will also now prefer "Dialog" sound channel regardless of users DBM sound channel settings (which is "Master" in most cases). The random time range for speech has also been changed from every 2-7 minutes to every 3-8 minutes Depricated by 7.2.2
  • All Rhonin code has been removed early do to heavy complaints. I tried to address all the issues before event went live in US and very early in EU, but too few updated to 7.2.1 and for some even the stuff in 7.2.1 wasn't enough so it was better to just kill it early. the idea is to have fun not make people angry. New in 7.2.2
  • Force update code has been made far more strict, a good half of the complaints could have been avoided running latest DBM. If being more strict helps more users help themselves, I think it's better in long run. New in 7.2.2
  • Pruned some login messages for first time users that are a bit dated. New in 7.2.2

Nighthold:
  • Changed countdown for tichondrius night phase to start counting down from 10 (up from 5)

5 man Dungeons
  • Changed Thrashspite warning to say "behind bookcase" instead of "book". Down side is now it'll always be in english for all languages instead of auto translations of "book"
