Deadly Boss Mods 4.98 is now available for download.
Note that this is the last version that uses the version number scheme 4.xx. The new version number scheme will be 4.xx.y, i.e. the next release will be 4.10.0. Future DBM versions will match the World of Warcraft versions from WoW 5.x (next expansion); so for example DBM 5.1.x will be for WoW 5.1.y etc.

Changes:
  • Improved the trap scanning handler for Shannox and Ragnaros for better accuracy (will still fail on high latency connections or really low FPS clients, not much can be done about that.)
  • Improvements to Heroic Encounters: Ragnaros, Beth'tilac, Baloroc, Staghelm
  • Improvements to Normal Encounters: Shannox, Beth'tilac, Alyzrazor, Baloroc, Rhyolith, Trash
  • Several bugfixes on Ragnaros, Staghelm, Trash
  • Core: Fixed loading of boss mods for outdoor bosses (the "old content" DBM mods will need to be updated to r350 or later to support load on demand for Kazzak and Doomwalker)
  • Added mods for Word Bosses: Akma'hat, Garr, Julak-Doom, Mobus, Xariona to cataclysm party mods

» DeadlyBossMods.com is moving to a new server

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

We are currently in the process of moving the website to a new server. The forum has already been moved to the new server and will get a new design tonight.

The rest of the website will follow in a few days. The transition should be very smooth without any downtime. We are also making sure that automated updaters like WoWMatrix won't encounter any problems with the new page.

Note that the development server (svn and related tools) won't be moved. Please use the domain svn.deadlybossmods.com or dev.deadlybossmods.com instead of deadlybossmods.com when connecting to the svn server.

[07/19/2011] Update #4: Deadly Boss Mods 4.94 comes with a lot of updates for the Firelands mod.

[07/02/2011] Update #3: Deadly Boss Mods 4.92a fixes the issues with the range checker in Firelands. The reason for all these bugs is that Blizzard changed some properties of the Firelands raid instance on the server. DBM relies on map data (size of all floors of an instance) for the range checker. Some of this data (the IDs of the floors) was changed by Blizzard in a server-side hotfix.

[06/30/2011] Update #2: DBM 4.92 fixes the issue with the range checker in Firelands and a lot of other problems with the new mods (especially for Alysrazor, Shannox, Rhyolith, and Bethtilac). There are also new timers and warnings for Firelands.
There is also a new trash mob module which currently supports Molten Surgers.

[06/29/2011] Update #1: Looks like we got the map sizes of Firelands wrong. The range checker frame will therefore not work properly for non-default distances in Firelands. This should be fixed in the current SVN build. A stable version with this fix (and other 4.2-related fixes) will be available tomorrow.

Deadly Boss Mods 4.90 for WoW 4.2 is now available for download. It comes with support for all new bosses and instances. However, the data is based on the PTR versions of these bosses and might not yet be entirely accurate.
One of the main new features, beside the support for Firelands, is the new range radar frame. This frame shows an overlay radar of all players within a specific radius of you. The players that are displayed in this frame can be filtered by certain criteria; one example for a mod that makes great use of this new frame is the Nefarian mod. The frame will be shown as soon as Nefarian casts Explosive Cinders and hidden once the debuff is gone. It will show you just the players with Cinders on them so you can run away from them while ignoring harmless players. If you are affected by Explosive Cinders, it will show you all other players to run away from.

Changes:

Core

  • Added a 3D model viewer that shows up on all encounters (except sindragosa do to a bug with her model being not scalable). Will allow 3D boss previews when looking at options for each boss configuration as well as play boss clips from the selected encounter. (Can be disabled under general options)
  • Added a radar range checker frame which shows an overlay of players within a specific radius
  • InfoFrame can now track debuffs (e.g. for Ascendant Council)
  • InfoFrame now works in 5 man instances
  • Added a work-around for "red screen flash" bug. Note that this bug is due to an issue how the default UI makes use of this effect when dead.
  • The instance lockout check (/dbm lockouts or /dbm lockout) no longer ignores some instances or ends prematurely for no reason. Added two countdown voices (male "Mosh" and female "Corsica"). These new voice-over countdowns are only being used by the Sinestra, Nefarian and Al'Akir mods. The option to select which voice is used can be found in the DBM raid warning options.
  • Fixed more instances of the "engage on death"-bug that is caused by wrong INSTANCE_ENCOUNTER_ENGAGE_UNIT events.

Mods

  • Lots of improvements to Cho'gal, Ascendant Council, Halfus, Nefarian, Sinestra, and all mods in ZG.
  • Several interrupt warning behaviors changed/improved. Interrupts are now default on for all melee on all fights (except Maloriak). But will only warn melee if they are targeting the casting target, otherwise it will not, to allow for maximized interrupt warnings but with filtering that understands melee might not always be near that target. These same interrupt warnings are off by default for ranged, but if turned on by a ranged, will NOT use the same target filtering method, it will warn a ranged upon cast regardless of their current target, since they have more luxury to target swap and hit it from a ranged position.
  • Removed battleground start timers as Blizzard added their own timers for this
  • Added some "Run Away!" sounds that had been missing

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

[05/05/2011] Update #3: DBM 4.82 is now available, it comes with a lot of improvements for the new WoW 4.1 mods and basic 4.2 PTR compatibility. It also adds a new option to disable the screen flash effect on special warnings as some people were reporting issues with this effect since 4.1.

[28/04/2011] Update #2: The map-based range check frame (distances other than 10, 11, 15 and 28) and the arrow sometimes don't work properly in Cataclysm instances. This is a bug in WoW, note that the default World Map is also affected; you sometimes just can't see other raid members there. (Update 02/05/2011: Blizzard confirmed this issue, it will be fixed in the next patch.) Fixed by Blizzard.

[27/04/2011] Update #1: Deadly Boss Mods 4.80b adresses some issues with 4.1. The Omnitron Defense System encounter generates some wrong combat log events that should now be handled by the mod (fixes multiple/wrong activate detection). This update also fixes some minor bugs in the new 5-men instances.
However, there is one 4.1 issue can't be fixed by us: the addon communication system (used by DBM sync) sometimes doesn't work properly. This will hopefully be fixed soon by Blizzard. You will have to relog if you notice problems with addon communication (affects all mods that make use of the addon message API, not just DBM). (Update 28/04/2011: Blizzard confirmed this issue and will fix it with a server-side patch soon.) Fixed by Blizzard.

Deadly Boss Mods 4.80 is now available for download. It comes with support for 4.1 boss fights. As always with new boss mods: the data is based on the PTR versions of these bosses and might be somewhat inaccurate or timers might be missing. There will probably be some small updates in the coming weeks to adreess this.

Note that World of Warcraft 4.1 makes some major changes to the addon communication system. DBM 4.80 or later will therefore not be able to sync with older versions.

Changes

Core

  • Added boss mods for the new Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman party instances. The old boss mods for the raid versions of these instances will be ignored by DBM if you still have these installed from an old DBM-BurningCrusade package
  • Added slash command /dbm lockouts (aliases: /dbm ids and /dbm lockout). This raid leader/assistant slash command retrieves the current instance lockout data from all DBM users in your raid to determine who is blocking an instance. Note that DBM asks for permission before sending any data to your raid leader/assistant. Instances might show up multiple times in the results in raids with mixed WoW client locales (This can't be avoided as Blizzard's API only supplies the localized instance name here). Be sure to check all possible names of the instance in the output of the slash command.
  • A lot of boss mods now use INSTANCE_ENCOUNTER_ENGAGE_UNIT for combat detection. This allows faster response to pull events and a more reliable detection
  • Fixed bug in GetBossTarget function which basically kept target scanning from working in any 5 man instances. This should enable a few warnings that require target scanning to work now that until now never worked right such as Stonespeaker's earth spike thing.
  • Added addon message prefixes support for 4.1. This means that this DBM release won't be able to sync with older versions due to incompatible changes in the addon message API.
  • Talent scanning much improved and more accurate now at identifying role.
  • Now attempts to auto fix bad speed kill timers/record kill times created by bugged encounters/mods in previous versions.
  • Say messages now support a generic localisation for "debuff on me!" so boss mods won't need to localize them anymore (ie, they won't be running around yelling "SayCorruptingCrash" anymore either if they are missing a local)
  • Boss health frame updated to support GUIDs so that multiple mobs with same name/CID can be tracked on boss health (ie Nefarian Chromatic Prototypes for example.)
  • Special warnings now have a new option to configure the secondary sound. You can access this with /dbm then selecting "options" then "special warnings"
  • All CN hacks removed to clean up the code of core. This release will not work right with wow 3.x anymore, but at this point all the new changes are geared toward cata anyways, CN isn't losing anything staying on an old version.
  • Refactored some parts of the sync system, DBM should send less data overall now

Mods

  • Many mods will now use an alternate sound for special warnings, to better support encounters with multiple special warnings. Distinct sounds when 2 happen at same time should make it more noticable that 2 things happened instead of 1. (IE electrocute and shadowblaze in 5, tanks rejoice!)
  • Many pvp mod fixes/updates so they are more functional now.
  • Fixed bugs with cata mods flagged improperly as 2 difficulty mods instead of 4, so stats were not tracking correctly.
  • Substantial Cata 5 man dungeon updates. Too many to list!
  • Substantial Cata raid updates. Too many to list!
  • Basic Raid trash mods. These are a work in progress and may not be 100% yet.
  • More tweaks to chimereon icon sorting/setting code to reduce its chance of failure on higher latency/low fps raiders.

» Deadly Boss Mods 4.7x

Saturday, December 25, 2010

Update (28/02/2011): DBM 4.74 is now available for download. The most important change you need to know about is that all DBM sounds now use the "Master" sound channel. This allows DBM to play sounds when normal sound effects are disabled. There is a new option to disable this.
Changes since 4.72

  • Now supports playing sound files through "Master" sound channel (making dbm basically function as it did in 3.3.5 with sounds.)
  • Added option to disable "Master" channel usage though in case some have gotten used to sounds going through SFX channel since 4.0.1
  • Archaeology sounds are gone. Jokes over.
  • Latency check updated to use "world" latency (arg4) on 4.x clients. It will still use arg3 on 3.x clients (aka CN)
  • Bosses with shared health pools should now work on DBMs boss health frame when merged into a single health bar.
  • Added cata bandages to range 15 check so range 15 should be more reliable if you didn't have wrath or older bandages cached. (also removed 2 duplicate wrath ones).
  • Revised mod loading routeens again to allow mod loading outside instances using zonetext (resolved an issue with Onyxia mod not loading do to zone text being same inside and outside zone, if you enter zone from outside, blizz does NOT fire player changed zone event since zonename didn't change. even if mapID did. This should also resolve issues with DBM accepting a boss pull sync even if you're standing outside since it now flags you leaving the instance when it didn't in last release.)
  • Info frame now has a new option to always show your own level. (Set this option by right clicking frame and enabling it).
  • Boss Mods: Many additions/changes since last release, too many to list. Mainly patch 4.0.6 or hotfix changes implimented and signifcant heroic mod additions.

Update (26/01/2011): DBM 4.72 contains major updates for all Cataclysm mods. Updating to this version is strongly recommended.

Deadly Boss Mods 4.70 is now available. It has pretty good support for almost all Cataclysm bosses.

Note that most Cataclysm boss mods are still under development and might show slightly wrong timers or timers may even be missing. So use your brain and skills to defeat the encounters and don't rely entirely on DBM ;)

» Deadly Boss Mods 4.60

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Update (27/10/2010): DBM 4.64 is now available, it fixes some issues with the 4.0.1 patch.
Changes:

  • Users of DBM-BurningCrusade: Please make sure that you are running DBM-BC revision 151 or later.
  • Fixed a compatibility issue with map addons that broke combat detection under certain circumstances
  • Fixed an issue that could cause WoW to freeze when logging in in big cities like Dalaran
Update: DBM 4.62 fixes auto loading and pull detection on chinese clients. (Don't bother updating if you have 4.60 and a non-chinese client, this is the only change)
Deadly Boss Mods 4.60 (for 4.0.1) is now available for download. It fixes several issues and adds compatibility for WoW 4.0.1. The Cataclysm beta is also supported.
Change log (incomplete and most of the changes were already in the beta that was available for the past weeks):
  • Core:
    • Statistics reworked to now track 4 modes instead of 2. (i.e. raids like ICC and ToGC)
    • Added options to show "Record Kill" timer for all boss mods. Can be disabled in global options.
    • Improved support for CN wow 3.2.2 client.
    • Talent checker now leaves all options on if you are below appropriate level to reach 51 (or 31) pt talents to make sure users who install boss mods before reaching max level get better default options.
    • All wrath and later mods load using Map now instead of zone name. Ensures that even unlocalized mods still load on demand.
    • Fully compatible with WoW 4.0 while maintaining full backwards compatibility with 3.3 and Chinese 3.2.2
    • All mods have received substantial CN local updates to better support all the wrath encounters currently supported in CN 3.2.2
    • Fixed a bug with field 'addon' being nil for mods with no ModID (Should no longer error out with BossNotes)
    • Mod sort order should now properly list expansions in correct order from newest to oldest. (IE classic is no longer on top, also requires BC-classic mods r186+ to be fully fixed)
    • Whispers and "announce to raid" features can no longer be performed by anyone but raid leader. This should greatly reduce chat and whisper spam coming from multiple assists using DBM in a raid. If you want this stuff turned on, the raid leader must do it. No one wants a a raid full of spam or 10 whispers at once when they get some debuff.
    • AreaIds changed to reflect blizzards last minute changes to them in 4.0.1
    • Fix Heroic detection in ICC from 4.0.1 api changes to getdungeondifficulty
  • Ruby Sanctum:
    • Heroic Halion twilight cutter timer should be correct now.
    • Halion Whispers will now be formatted with proper DBM prefix so they get filtered properly by DBMs "filter whispers from other boss mods" feature.
  • Icecrown:
    • Rotface arrow now hides after combat ends
    • Valithria Dreamwalker some tweaks to experimental abom timer. It's closer to perfect now.
    • Sindragosa: Icons are now cleared when freed from frost tombs as they were meant to be.
    • Sindragosa: Curse of tongues no longer breaks air phase/phase2 detection. (DBM now scans for demonic text too in trigger events)
    • Misc bug fixes and additions I probably can't think of.
  • Coliseum:
    • Icons on anub should be improved if a target resists penetrating cold.
    • Anub auto cancel buffs feature removed (it's forbidden in 4.0.1)
  • Ulduar:
    • Iron council timers now cancel when council members die.

» Deadly Boss Mods 4.52

Friday, August 19, 2010

Deadly Boss Mods 4.52 is now available for download. It fixes several issues with 4.50.
Users of DBM-BurningCrusade: You have to update to DBM-BC r151 or later (which is available on our downloads page) if you install DBM 4.52. You will experience problems with auto-loading of some mods if you don't update. However, you can still manually load the affected mods from the DBM menu.
Change log (incomplete and most of the changes were already in the beta that was available for the past weeks):

  • Core:
    • Added options to all mods that have target scanning that enable the user to use the old scan methods should there be NO ONE in raid with less than 600ms running DBM (rare, but it happens). Letting the lowest latency raid member target scan and sync is still most reliable method but now you get a choice.
    • Some BNSendWhisper improvements for combat whispers.
  • Icecrown:
    • Rotface arrow should be working correctly now (it identifes and points to ooze kiter as it was originally intended to do)
    • Blood Princes: Now waits 4.5 seconds before hiding range frame after teldarim or keleseth become empowered in case valanaar casts empowered shock vortex right before change. This should make the auto range finder hiding for encounter behave more like it was intended, hiding any time it's simply not possible for valanaar to cast empowered shock vortex.
    • Valithria Dreamwalker has an experimental abom spawn timer now. Let me know if there are any inaccuracies with it and what player size/difficulty you were on.
    • Lich King: Added special warning if a priest or paladin healer get grabbed by a valk. (Requires syncing so healer that gets grabbed has to be on 4.51 beta or newer to send out nofication). Inspection requests would be difficult to use do to server throttle issues as well as possible range issues.
    • Lich King: Added special warning on heroic difficulty that tells you when valk is at 55% and to switch targets.
    • Misc bug fixes and additions I probably can't think of.
  • Ruby Sanctum:
    • Halion encounter should be a bit more accurate, more feature rich, and boss health frame should work better now. (still won't update if you stay above in phase 2 and have no target)
    • Many raid icons were updated to make a little more sense. (skull up top, X down below on halion for example, X was hard to see with all the fire). Also many other icons were updated to not conflict with DXE on fights where icon placement is sensitive and you don't want people running two different mods using different icons. With exception of sindragosa frost tombs. DBMs sort by group method makes more sense than random icons.
    • Baltharus only splits twice on 25 man. Mod had recieved limited 25 man tested at time of release and didn't account for this change from PTRs 3 split version.
    • Misc bug fixes and additions I probably can't think of.

» Beta Keys for Maestia

I got 100 keys for the closed beta of the new MMORPG Maestia for DBM users! You can get yours by being one of the first 100 to like our new DBM Facebook page and post on its wall.
Anyone who plays the closed beta with one of these keys and reaches the max level (40, comparable to WoW level 35, so that should be doable) gets a special in-game dress: female version or male version

Please note that the closed beta is only available to european players at the moment. I will try to get more keys when the US beta starts if there is a demand for US keys.

» World of Warcraft 3.3.5

Update #2: DBM 4.50 had a bug that made some warnings (target-scanning based warnings) unreliable. DBM 4.50b fixes this.

Update: Deadly Boss Mods 4.50 is now available for download!

Deadly Boss Mods 4.50 will be released tomorrow (Friday). It updates the Ruby Sanctum boss mods which are currently still based on PTR data and it also fixes some issues caused by the new Battle.net 2.0 chat system.
The current alpha version is very stable, you can safely use it for raiding if you need updated boss mods right now. We are just doing some final polishing and testing to make sure that the 4.50 release is stable and smooth.

4.50b Changelog:

Core
  • Fixed a bug that caused target-scanning to fail
  • Added option to post BigBrother buf check to the raid chat on pull
Ulduar
  • General Vezax: added arrow for Shadow Crash

4.50 Changelog:

Core
  • Vault of Archavon got its own module and is no longer part of the PvP module
  • World Event bosses also got their own module (previously part of the Party mods)
  • Added support for Battle.net 2.0 chat
  • Added an option to try combat log fix on pull by clearing the combat log cache when DBM detects a pull (disabled by default)
  • Added a latency check feature which checks your ping before allowing DBM to send synchronization messages to the raid. This prevents players with bad connections from sending wrong information to the raid for certain timing-critical events like target scanning (players with a high ping often saw the wrong target for target-scanning based warnings, this should no longer happen). Note that the latency threshold is configurable in the GUI (default: 150 ms) and that at least one player in the raid needs to have a ping lower than his threshold to allow target-scanning warnings to function properly.
  • As always: a lot of locale updates

» WoW 3.3.x and Icecrown Citadel

Wednesday, December 09, 2009

Update (01/25/2010): DBM 4.40 comes with a new and improved range check frame and support for the new bosses.
Changelog:

  • Core
    • Range checker: Added support for 6, 8 and 12 yard range checks in the GUI. Boss mods have access to arbitrary ranges if necessary.
    • Range checker: The new ranges are only supported in zones with a known map size which needs to be measured by hand. The room of Blood Queen Lanathel is not supported because of a bug in the instance (the world map doesn't work properly in this room). However, all other zones in all raid instances and most 5-men instances are supported. Support for the remaining 5-men instances will be added in the next version.
  • Icecrown
    • Crimson Halls Trash: Added a new mod for notable warnings on the crimson halls trash. When tanks get sapped, and when they do their version of blood mirror.
    • Blood Prince Council
      • Added warning for the explosion of Kinetic Bomb (the cast doesn't show up in the combat log)
      • Added warnings for Shock Vortex (normal and empowered)

    • Mimiron: Fixed Frost Bomb timers
    • Mimiron: Changed range frame from 10 yards to 6 yards
    • Algalon: Fixed special warning for 4 stacks of phase punch

DBM-SpellTimers r49 now allows you to temporarily disable spells. DBM-BC now supports WoW Vanilla bosses.
Update (01/04/2010): DBM 4.36 fixes all known bugs from 4.34 and comes with a few basic (PTR data) boss mods for the upcoming Icecrown bosses.
Update (12/14/2009): DBM 4.34 is now available for download. It updates all Icecrown mods and fixes some minor 3.3.0-related bugs (like /dbm ver in cross-realm dungeons). This version also fixes the bug that caused error messages when pulling certain Icecrown bosses.

DBM 4.32 is now available for download. It supports World of Warcraft 3.3.x and comes with boss mods for Icecrown Citadel.
Most of the timers and warnings in the new boss mods are based on PTR information and might be inaccurate. We will release a new version of DBM with updated boss mods in few days and another new version next week (if necessary).
You can help us by providing information like combat logs, chat logs, or spell timers. Please refer to this thread on the forums for details on this.

» Deadly Boss Mods 4.28!

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

Deadly Boss Mods 4.28 comes with a lot of updates for the Trial of the Crusader boss mods.
All changes:
